Monitor live vehicle data in real-time

Live data allows you to see and address issues as they happen, preventing minor problems from becoming major breakdowns. With real-time data, you can diagnose issues with greater accuracy. No more guesswork.

  • By continuously monitoring your truck’s key parameters while you drive, live data provides immediate insights that help you understand and optimize your truck’s performance.

Whether you’re climbing a steep incline or hauling a heavy load, knowing exactly what's happening under the hood.

Four key benefits of live data

  1. Live data allows you to see and address issues as they happen, preventing minor problems from becoming major breakdowns.
  2. With real-time data, you can diagnose issues with greater accuracy.
  3. Experience sluggish performance or lack of power? Live data helps pinpoint the exact cause, whether it’s a clogged DPF filter or a turbo issue, allowing for quick resolutions and minimal downtime.
  4. By monitoring engine and aftertreatment components, you can adjust driving habits and maintenance schedules to improve fuel mileage.

OTR Diagnostics lets you monitor things like:

DPF soot and ash levels: Monitor the accumulation of soot and ash to determine the optimal times for DPF regeneration, helping prevent clogs and maintain filter efficiency.

DEF fluid level: Keep track of Diesel Exhaust Fluid levels to ensure your truck meets emissions standards without interruption.

Battery voltage: Stay informed about your electrical system's health, avoiding unexpected failures and ensuring reliable starts.

Intake pressure (turbo boost): Monitor turbocharger performance to gauge how your engine responds under various load conditions.

EGR valve position: Track the position of the Exhaust Gas Recirculation valve to control emissions effectively and optimize engine performance.

Exhaust and DPF temperatures: Observe temperatures to manage the regeneration process effectively and prevent overheating that can damage the system.

SCR temperatures: Keep an eye on Selective Catalytic Reduction temperatures to ensure NOx reduction processes are functioning correctly.

Engine fuel delivery pressure: Ensure your fuel system delivers at the right pressure for maximum efficiency and engine performance.

Engine hours: Track engine hours and other vital diagnostics to plan maintenance and operational strategies effectively.

+ more: Each engine provides exclusive live data readings and even beyond this list. Our goal is to supply you with essential live data for monitoring your vehicle.

Live data FAQs

Does it read DPF soot level?

Yes, we read DPF soot level on all the covered engines. This is very important live data parameter because this can be an early indicator that you are having aftertreatment issues. The DPF soot rises from 0 -100% and beyond. It's all based on your load conditions, idle time and overall DPF pressure within the system. If you have more than 100% Soot level you will start to experience reduce engine power and potentially enter a derated state.

We recommend you look over all the fault codes with OTR diagnostics. I would recommend looking at live data when performing a Forced DPF regen to continue to monitor all the data and ensure the DPF soot decreases with time once you start a DPF regen. You should notice your exhaust temperatures should rise as you perform a Forced DPF regen. If not, then this indicates you have other upstream issues that are causing the high soot condition.

How does live data help me diagnose a fault code?

The live data and fault codes are used to perform a diagnostic check on a truck. You need both of them to properly ensure your truck is working properly.

If you have a sensor not reading correctly this can cause fault codes. This is why it's so beneficial to have live data to make sure all your sensors are reading correctly. If certain sensors are not reporting correctly back to the Engine ECU (Controller) this could cause shut down conditions, derates and unexpected downtime.

Do you read aftertreatment data?

We cover all the major components in the aftertreatment system. I would say the major components like DPF pressure, temperatures, and DEF sensors are in live data.

NOTE: Not all engines are created equal, some engines give us some more data than others.

How do I make sense of all this data? Is there a description?

Each live data value has more information once you double click on it. The information is used to give you a description of what the live data value means.

Do you add additional live data parameters?

You may notice improved live data coverage over time as we continue to enhance this feature. We are navigating bluetooth limitations and working within the bluetooth data constraints. If you require more parameters, considering using an Android device due to iOS data transfer rate limitations.
