    This DTC + AFT reset tool is a plug & play tool that will reset your fault codes as well as reset your aftertreatment system DPF & SCR system.  This sends the same OEM level resets so you will know that everything is included in the module. This is a great tool to have for any driver, the fleet owner or shop owner. The product is used solely for the purpose of clearing “Active or Inactive” fault codes on all of the modules that are present in the truck and also resetting your aftertreatment system after maintenance work was performed. You can replace your sensors over the road and just plug in the DTC + AFT reset tool to restart your modules. The device will send the proper communication data over the specific network to perform these extensive resets.

    Specific trucks will display fault codes on the dashboard, most of the time it will trigger a check engine light or check module message. When this happens, you will automatically start to notice a screen stating the error has occurred. A lot of times these codes appear but they fall into the category of “Ghost Code”. The meaning “Ghost code” is from a fault code was triggered due to certain conditions that will be almost impossible to recreate. This causes excessive downtime in trying to find a repair shop to figure out if this is serious or not. This also misleads the owner into thinking this is a serious problem with the truck. The DTC + AFT tool that will keep you in control of downtime. Clearing the fault code once and seeing if the fault codes come back. If it comes back a second time, then you can proceed with taking the matter seriously.

    AFT Knowledge

    The DPF filter was introduced in 2007 and then combined with the SCR filter in 2011. The DPF or DPF / DEF SCR system has a few components of the aftertreatment system that will need to be maintained and cleaned to ensure proper engine operation and reliability. The recommended filter cleaning for heavy haul is every 250,000 miles or 4500 hours. For regional hauling this does get extended to every 400,000 miles or 10,000 hours. That estimated mileage is based on perfect world conditions when all component perform well.

    AFT Failure Mode

    Premature Failure that cause premature DPF / DEF SCR filter replacements

    AFT Critical High Soot / Derates

    When a failure occurs, this will prompt you a “high soot” notification on your dash and will Derate your vehicle to seek service. You would need to take your filter off the vehicle and send to an approved DPF cleaning shop so they can assess how bad this filter is clogged. If it’s a good candidate for cleaning, then you will perform that service and reinstall on your vehicle. This is where the reset tool will come handy, your filter is cleaned but your engine controllers do not know that. You have to use a reset tool to reset the system to make sure that everything is operating as a cleaned filter.
